Stuart Daily Tens August 13th!
Jul 29
On Saturday, August 13, 2011, The Wisconsin Rugby Club will host the 17th annual Stuart Daily Memorial Tens tournament at the Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex in Cottage Grove, WI.
The event, which features 12 men's teams and four women's teams from throughout the Midwest, kicks off at 9 a.m. at the facility adjacent to Firemen's Park at the corner of Vilas and Clark streets. Finals are pegged for 5 p.m., with a pig roast to follow.
Two fields are ready for use, with the potential to add two more and plans to construct a refreshment stand, bleachers, locker rooms, a children's play structure and other amenities.
The tournament — named after the former WRC member who died during the 2003 "Traveling Tens," as it was known then — is free to attend.
It showcases a fast-paced brand of rugby achieved by modified games, with 10 players per side rather than the customary 15 and 10-minute halves instead of the traditional 40-minute periods.
Local teams include the WRC, the Madison Minotaurs and the WRC Old Boys — the VOMITs (Veterans, Old Men, Idiots & Twits), an over 35 team.
The Wisconsin Women's Rugby Football Club will host the female competition.

I heard many references to Stuart over the course of the day. It was a great day for rugby in Madison. Stuart was smiling down on us. Cheers to all who made this tourney such a success.
